Mechanical cable tests under installation conditions

We carry out static and/or dynamic tests on electrical and optical signal cables or telecommunication cables in our own testing facility.
The test procedures are reproducible and correspond to real-life environmental and operational conditions, and are based on the applicable IEC and DIN EN standards.

Of course it is possible to carry out combined tests with temperature stress and/or determination of transmis-sion property changes. If the client so wishes, he may be present during testing.

Testing in the presence of TÜV Süd:
This option is particularly recommended where proof of faults is required for court cases.

Static cable tests

Optical fiber cable (dynamic cable tests)

Cable tensile strength and fibre elongation acc. to EN 60794-1-2 methods 1A and 1B

  • Traction length up to max. 115 m
    (at room temperature)

  • Tensile stress up to max. 20.000 N

  • Temperature range
     max +100°C,
     min. -70°C
on cable lengths of 8-10 m

  • Determination of transmission
    and mechanical property
    changes in a combined test

Further static tests

Sealing cushion with valve: for expansion and movement joints, sealing for interim gaps etc.

  • Specimen length < 1 m

  • Temperature 23 +3°C

  • Determination of mechanical, pressure or pneumatic property changes after 1 to 10 cm joint movements

Coaxial, signal, mining and telecom outdoor cables

Cable tensile strength in acc. with IEC DIN EN 60794-1-2 method 1

  • Specimen length up to max. 30 m

  • Tensile stress up to max. 20.000 N

  • Temperature range
    max +100°C,
    min. -70°C
on cable lengths of 8-10 m

  • Determination of transmission
    and mechanical property changes
during and after tensile stress in
    a combined test

Ring denting pressure

Further static tests on optical and electrical telecom cables.

  • Specimen length up to max. 30 m
  • Temperature range
    max. 100°C
    min. +70°C
on cable lengths of 8-10 m

  • Determination of transmission, mechanical or pneumatic property changes

  • IEC DIN EN 60794-1-2 / E3 Crush resistance

  • IEC DIN EN 60794-1-2 / E3 Duct crush resistance

  • No applicable standard

  • Ring denting resistance

Optical fiber cables (Cabled) fibre overlength

  • Specimen length 100 to 300 m (at room temperature)

  • Determination of the shortest and longest fibres in the cable

Preliminary test to select the fibres for:

  • an IEC DIN EN 60794-1-2 / E1B, Temperaturwechsel IEC DIN EN 60794-1-2 /F1

  • Temperature cycling IEC DIN EN 60794-1-2 /F1
